You may find a new book, Lady Doctor, by Kavitha Rao, quite interesting. She has documented the life of some of the pioneering Indian women who struggled against every odd to join the medical profession, in the 19th and early 20th century.

Hi, I finally did it! I bought and read "Lady Doctor"—thanks for the recommendation!

The stories of Dr. Kadambini Ganguly, Haimabati, and Dr. Rukhmabai are fascinating. We have so much to be thankful for to them. Today we stand on their shoulders❤️

I wish "Lady Doctors" was compulsory reading in schools. Through their stories and trials, we can learn so much about the traditions and thinking of people at the time.
